The World Trade Center New Orleans has entered a strategic partnership with Innovation Norway, the Norwegian government agency supporting industrial development and international business, to expand collaboration in clean technology, maritime innovation, workforce development, and global trade.
The Memorandum of Understanding, signed this month, establishes a three-year framework for joint initiatives designed to strengthen ties between Louisiana and Norway in the Blue Economy and other emerging maritime sectors. The agreement comes amid growing demand for sustainable port operations, logistics innovation, and clean energy solutions.
“Innovation is a global language, and Norway has long been a leader in maritime technology and clean energy,” said Harrison Crabtree, executive director of the World Trade Center New Orleans. “This agreement strengthens the bridge between Louisiana and Norway, creating new pathways for our companies, our ports, and our workforce. It positions both regions to lead in the Blue Economy and in the emerging industries shaping the future.”
Under the agreement, Louisiana and Norwegian partners will focus on clean and green technology collaboration in transportation, logistics, energy generation, and other maritime infrastructure sectors. The partnership also facilitates the exchange of commercial, regulatory, and market information to support business development and promotes trade and investment through industry roundtables, trade missions, and workforce initiatives.
The MOU outlines specific deliverables, including:
- Industry Roundtables (Years 1–3):Forums for maritime companies from both regions to share insights on policy, investment, and innovation.
- Workforce Readiness Exchange (Year 2):Virtual convenings between employers and training providers to address skills gaps in the maritime sector.
- Trade Missions (Year 3):Coordinated missions linked to the WorkBoat Show and Nor-Shipping to support targeted business matchmaking.
